University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine

UConn ASDA is a chapter of the American Student Dental Association at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. UConn is located in Farmington, Connecticut, and the school’s mission emphasizes diversity, professionalism, communication, leadership, and integrity. UConn ASDA has a large board composed of 27 students that embody the mission of the school and of ASDA. We have 11 committees, comprised of Lunch and Learn, Pre-Dental, Wellness, First Year Representatives, Second Year Representatives, Social, Communication, Community Service, Alumni, Advocacy, and Fundraising. Our chapter holds a variety of social events, including: a welcome back bar-b-que, big/little reveal, wellness hikes, apple picking, and more. We work with many vendors and companies for lunch and learns, such as Colgate, GlaxoSmithKline, and the Connecticut State Dental Association. Our community service is centered around Hands for Hartford and Give Kids a Smile; and last year we held a spring service day where students cleaned up a local park in Hartford. We hold mentoring events such as “Wax and Relax” and “Chill and Drill” for first year students. UConn ASDA also participates in advocacy events such as legislative week and the Yankee Dental Conference, and members of our chapter have leadership positions on District 1.
