District 1 Takes a Break!

Our ASDA District 1 Team has been hard at work this whole year. From juggling school work, clinic, and promoting the #ASDAFever, our Cabinet took a well-deserved break. Meet some of our cabinet members as they took some time and shared what they did over their December holiday break.

Newsletter Co-Chair

Hi Everyone! My name is Rachel and I’m a second year dental student at Tufts. I serve as Tufts ASDA’s graphic designer and am a member of our Gold Crown committee. I’m also one of the newsletter editors for District 1. I flew home to sunny Los Angeles for break and have been enjoying time with my family, friends and most importantly my dogs! From left to right, meet Bo, Wiley and our newly adopted dog Milly 🙂 They’re one of the main reasons I love coming home. I’ve been resting a lot, enjoying the sun, weening off coffee and eating too many Christmas cookies!

Predental Chair

Your District One Predental Chair has been having a fabulous winter break wondering in the desert! I went to Arizona to visit my grandmother and my father’s side of the family. In the span of 7 days, I celebrated Christmas, both my parent’s and grandmother’s birthdays, and the New Year. I look forward to getting back to New England and seeing my smiling patients!

Communication Chair

I had the opportunity to take some time off and go and explore Munich, Salzburg, and Frankfurt over the span of 10 days with my aunt. From visiting museums like the Alte Pinakothek museum in Munich, quaint German medieval towns like Rothenburg ob de Tauber, the classic Neuschwanstein castle outside Fussen, and a Sound of Music/Salzburg City tour, I was able to learn more about German & Austrian culture, the language, and some history. One thing I did not miss about my trip was the food (it got tiring eating sausage and pork almost every meal) so a great family-home-cooked meal was waiting for me on Christmas Day back in Seattle.

District 1 Trustee

Spending countless hours in clinic, lab, and class can be really hard and take a lot of energy out of you! Whenever I get a day off, I love being able to relax with my friends and family.  Over break, I was able to spend a night baking cookies (and eating them) with two of my best friends Asia and Christine. Because each of us has either been away on externship or specialty rotations, we haven’t been able to see each other in a long time. We usually keep up daily using our group chat, but there’s nothing like hanging out in person with those that mean the most to you.
